A linear design was proposed for this unremarkable urban setting that backs on to the railway tracks. Positioned as far as possible from the noise of the trains, the project establishes an urban presence through different compositions varying in colour and size, as if they were a succession of distinct buildings.

The various functions housed within the school are arranged in separate blocks, connected by recessed entrance areas set back from the main façade.

These well-lit, double-height entrances also serve to link the school’s different functional spaces.

The greater ceiling height in the gym and dining areas creates spacious volumes located at the ends of the building, which flank the central classroom block. Triple-height porches with a stainless-steel mesh shelter the middle section protecting the façade from direct sunlight.

The design team was not involved in the construction of the school.
